Numero Cromatico is deeply connected to the archaeological site of the Crypta Balbi, where a Roman fullonica was discovered, a place where wool was processed for tapestries similar to those on display. Numero Cromatico's contemporary art reflects on the perpetuation of archaic artisanal techniques, enriched by the use of new technologies. The exhibition proposes a fusion of past and present, as emphasized by curators Stéphane Verger, Ludovico Pratesi, and Marco Bassan. The works, which include love lyrics selected by the AI, also connect to the history of the Confraternity of Miserable Virgins, evoking the plight of the girls who were educated there in the art of embroidery.
